Job Description

We are looking for a research engineer to support our research team working on neuro-symbolic AI and developing concepts to apply these to validation problems in automated driving (AD).You will support us in developing new algorithms, tools, and services together with our international as well as interdisciplinary team of research scientists and PhD students.Your goal is to make cutting-edge AI methods available for transfer to real-world AD use cases.Furthermore, you will develop and test conceptual solutions for AD validation based on formal methods.In addition, you implement Answer-Set Programming (ASP) solutions for semantic verification of AI systems describing simultaneous multi-agent behavior.As well, you will develop scalable methods and software tools for safety argumentation of L4 autonomous driving systems based on formal methods.Last but not least, contribute to research on applications of neurosymbolic AI in the validation of AD systems and supervise Master’s as well as/or PhD students.

Qualifications

Education: excellent degree (Master) in Computer Science, Computational Logic or related field, PhD is a plusExperience and Knowledge: experience in answer-set programming, neuro-symbolic AI methods or related paradigms based on formal methods, strong experience in software engineering, with relevant industry experience, profound skills in several programming languages, including Python and C++ as well as deployment tooling, experience in validation of AI or AD systems, as well as neuro-symbolic AI is preferred, Knowledge with simulation software in the AD domain is a plusPersonality and Working Practice: team player as well as independentEnthusiasm: passion for creating well-written code, keen to learn new technologies and sharing knowledgeLanguages: fluent in English (written and spoken)
