We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join the Cyber Research team at Xpanse, the latest addition to Palo Alto Networks Cortex.
Your Impact
At Xpanse, you will:
Help bring a new threat intelligence product to marketDesign and implement methods to store, query, and analyze datasets ranging in size from gigabytes to petabytes in unconventional ways to produce unparalleled cybersecurity insightsDevelop novel techniques and approaches for understanding the Internet and characterizing data for insights relevant to cyber threat intelligenceEmpower threat intelligence analysts at Palo Alto and its customers to counter bad actors across the internet
Qualifications
Your Experience
Required
4+ years of experience as a professional Software Engineer or Data Engineer for a SaaS businessProfessional experience designing and implementing solutions for large-scale data storage and analysis, using tools such as Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Google BigTable, Apache HBase, or ElasticSearchExperience developing and maintaining stream-processing pipelines using Apache Apache Beam or Apache SparkFamiliarity with ETL management tools, such as Apache AirflowExperience in software development, including some level of proficiency in PythonExcited to work closely with analysts to build a toolkit for discovering and tracking APT campaigns across the internetHigh-level understanding of computer networks, protocols, and how the Internet works
Nice to have
Background or interest in threat intelligence and applied securityFamiliarity with datasets associated with cyber threat huntingKnowledge of Google Cloud Platform services

The Team
Xpanse’s Cyber Research Engineering team is a cross-functional team that uses Xapnse’s unique datasets to deliver cybersecurity insights and help defend Fortune 500 companies and government networks.
Our Cyber Research Engineers work with datasets ranging in size from gigabytes to petabytes in unconventional ways. Our work is varied, exciting, and meaningful. You will rapidly prototype new capabilities to address specific customer needs, you will work to improve our Internet intelligence through new forms of data collection, and you will develop, maintain, and use our tools to perform threat hunting.

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $139,400/yr to $225,500/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
